So what are the values you ask?
Value is a strongly held belief about what's important, desirable, valuable or acceptable to you.
Values are priorities that guide you on how to spend your time, energy and what you focus on & deep down, they're probably
the measures you use to tell if your life is turning out the way
you want it to.
The sort of person you want to be and your interaction with
the world around you.
Values provide general guidelines for conduct.
As your definition of success in your life changes, so do your values.
All of us have different desires and values throughout different
phases of our lives.
Let's look closer at what are the values that influence your behavior.
Personal core values are the general expression of what is most important for you and what are the things that you like and dislike.
Core Values have a great impact on our inner world.
They create the foundation of our character.
Since you have to live with yourself...
your core values should be considered as crucial in your life.
John C. Maxwell said it well:
“When values, thoughts, feelings, and actions are in alignment,
a person becomes focused and character is strengthened.”
Values are formed from early childhood and are later
consciously re-evaluated and can be changed depending
on our experiences and progression in life.
For example, maybe you value kindness, and you always take the chance to help other people and give your energy and resources
to generous causes.
Maybe you value honesty, and believe in being honest and
always telling the truth.
When you don't speak truthfully, you feel disappointed in yourself.
Some people value adventure, while others prefer security.
Moving on... here's a list, so you can see & choose what are
the values that naturally drive you toward & which values you appreciate most, and are appropriate for your character.
Although, there are hundreds more, use these as examples
of personal values and see which are the ones that resonate
with you & let your imagination run free!
Get to the bottom of everything that you do.
Not because you must, but because it’s fun to know things.
Life is fascinating.
Acknowledge it, and then try to understand it.
This is a key skill that most kids are born with, but which is
trained out of most kids by the age of ten.
Without curiosity, life has no joy and new things cannot enter the closed incurious mind, also known as a fixed mindset.
Curiosity about how things work and how to create something
to fulfill a task is the single most important driving factor behind absolutely all technological innovations and inventions
over the past thousand years.
If you’re not curious, work on this value, because your life
will be much better.
Find what really interests you and dive deep into that subject.
I want the freedom to live the way I want without society
making any decisions for me.
Freedom is a value that everyone should hold dear.
Don’t forget how lucky we are to have freedom.
(look back or read biographies 85 years ago and you'll get the picture)
Freedom gives you happiness and happiness is life.
I value my freedom so much because it allows me to speak,
act and pursue happiness without unnecessary external restrictions.
Expressing your freedom is important because it leads to enhanced expressions of creativity and original thought, increased productivity, and overall high quality of life.
Time is the coin of your life.
It is the only coin you have, and you can determine
how it will be spent.
Be careful and don't let other people spend it for you.
This one is so important.
We all have the same 24 hours in our lives and the clock is always ticking, but what matters the most is how we spend that time.
Did you spend that time watching movies all the time, gossiping,
doing unsatisfying things or did you invest it with your family
or the people you love, or doing and learning about
the things that inspire you?
When you're old, 30-40 years from now... you don’t want to tell yourself “I should’ve learned or done that while I had the time”.
Remember that you have time to change that now!
Here's an extraordinary course from Brian Tracy on
how to Manage Time Efficiently.
Self-awareness means knowing yourself, how others see you,
how you respond in different situations, and why you react
the way you do.
Self-awareness allows you to recognize when you’ve messed up,
and helps you identify how to fix your mistakes.
By constantly learning more about yourself you're gonna adopt
deep knowledge of yourself, that you can
use in your advantage in life.
Remember that everyone has own thoughts, actions & reasons
to do something, that at the moment may irritate you...
Respect them and their reasons, and try to learn from their actions.
This is perhaps one of the most important personal values.
We must keep ourselves healthy, so we can achieve our life goals.
By healthy, I mean keeping ourselves healthy both
physically and mentally.
Health Values includes eating healthy foods, getting a good amount of sleep, working out, keep your body out of alcohol & drugs, meditation, visualization.
All of the above-mentioned things are easy to do..
But at the same time, they're easy not to-do...
We tend to blend in society and sometimes even if we don't want
that energy drink or that beer or that drug, we're forced to try it.
You know why... to feel appreciated and important in the eyes of others, to be "cool", to falsely boost your esteem...
But remember you are the one forcing almost always in these situations, so don't seek blame in others later.
The only difference is if you have strong health values and when all of the unhealthy stuff society keeps adding to you, your brain associates them with pain, so you're not willing to try anything that
will harm your health in the long-term.
When you’re more knowledgeable, your entire perspective changes.
You will think differently when you have the required knowledge.
Instead of saying this is so stupid, I hate it..
you might want to think & change your perspective into...
Hmm how can I find something to learn from this & have fun doing it?
That's changing your perspective simple example.
Ask yourself on a scale from 1 to 10 how much
do you know about everything?
If you're pretty ambitious you might say 7... Wrong!
There's just so much we don't know as humans that it's mind-blowing.
But the fun part is if you're appreciating this value for knowledge, every day is a new day, and every day you can expand
your knowledge with all the things that interest and inspire you.
Just go back 1 year when you had some struggles or
couldn't find a solution to some problem.
Pretty frustrating right?
Now go back & feel the moment when you finally acquire
the knowledge & get a breakthrough to solve that problem.
You felt proud of yourself, I'm guessing... 😀
Remember that for every problem or difficulty you're facing,
there must be knowledge and solution.
When you're enthusiastic, it makes everything easier.
Enthusiastic people dare to take risks, have the determination
to persevere their way through obstacles and setbacks,
are more committed to service, and tend to become natural leaders.
The word Enthusiasm first was used at the beginning of
the 17th century.
It was borrowed from the Greek "enthousiasmos",
meaning inspiration or possession by a god.
"Every memorable act in the history of the world is a triumph of enthusiasm.
Nothing great was ever achieved without it because it gives any challenge, no matter how frightening or difficult, a new meaning.
Without enthusiasm, you are doomed to a life of mediocrity,
but with it, you can accomplish miracles.”
-Og Mandino: The Greatest Salesman in the World
It’s important to never settle in life.
When you stop growing, you stop living.
If you’re the type of person who looks for lessons
in your past mistakes, growth may be one of your core values.
Growth means you learn every day and about everything.
You can always strive to become a better person.
Balance involves adjusting the time for the things that matter
most to you, and minimizing those that distract you from
your highest goals.
You need to be intentional about prioritizing what matters most
to you daily, which becomes much easier when you're crystal clear
on what you truly value.
Imagine that struggle is gone, financial worries are gone and
you have the freedom to live life on your terms.
What would that look like for you?
If you’re the type of person who likes to set goals and plan
how to achieve them, then accomplishment may be
one of your core personal values.
The human mind is programmed to function on achieving goals,
but many people will only achieve the basic surviving goals.
People who have accomplishment values, strive to reach
more complex and long-term goals.
Remember to always be humble about your accomplishments.
Own your actions, mistakes, and current life situation.
Understand and fully own what’s in your control.
As Jim Rohn said many times... Don’t like something?
But don’t take responsibility for things that are not on your plate.
What others do is not your concern, nor your responsibility.
Focus on yourself.
Werner Erhard defined responsibility wonderfully!
"Responsibility is declaring oneself as a cause in the matter.
It is a context from which to live one’s life.
Responsibility is not a burden, fault, praise, blame, shame, or guilt.
All these include judgments and evaluations of good and bad,
right and wrong, or better and worse.
They are not responsibility…
Responsibility starts with the willingness to deal with a situation from and with the point of view, that you are the source of what you are,
what you do, and what you have."
The people on the upper curve take full personal responsibility
for all the choices they make in their lives and their work.
Do you take full personal responsibility?
It’s easy to do…
and just as easy not to do...
There’s always something to be grateful about if you only
look out a minute and look around or within.
Cultivate the attitude of gratitude in the morning once you open
your eyes, be thankful for all the things you have in your life,
because as time goes on you tend to take it for granted.
Studying the habits of very successful and wealthy people around
the world, they all have created this ritual of gratitude sometime during the day, and are practicing the power of grateful thoughts.
What are the 3 things you can be grateful for,
right now at this moment?
A lie can travel the world before the truth even leaves the room.
I know it’s impossible to be honest at all times but it's a habit that you can develop and practice over time.
Lying is also a habit that you acquire over some time.
Great businessmen will tell you that the most valuable thing
you have is your integrity and your name.
It takes a long time to build your reputation,
but it's very easy to destroy it.
Tell the truth and keep your word, even if it hurts.
Warren Buffett, one of my favorite people said:
"Honesty is a very expensive gift, don’t expect it from cheap people.”
Here I'll share some of the core values in my life right now!
I want to keep challenging myself to learn, grow, improve.
I believe in constant and never-ending improvement and personal growth.
To respect the laws of nature and to look after my health and
A contribution is my core value, to assist, help and make a
positive difference for others.
Freedom to choose what I want to do daily, how to invest my time, and
not having someone(authority) to tell me or force me to do,
think or feel something, without my free will to do so.
Self-Awareness is crucial in my life.
To be able consciously to make decisions, to take actions,
to see my errors unattached from emotions and find solutions.
There are many more, but these are my basic core values,
that guide my life.
Some people don’t take the time to understand their core values
and ask "what is truly important to me in life?"
Instead, they focus on what our society, culture, and media values.
This is the wrong long-term strategy.
It’s about having your agenda for everything.
Understanding that you can wish anything, be anyone,
do whatever you like.
Also Understanding that in the same way, you cannot force
your action, thoughts & feelings on anyone.
